Hydration Diet

August 25th, 2011

Nope, this doesn’t mean that you’ll only take in liquids all day long. It merely means you have to eat more fruits and vegetables so that you’ll have enough water in your body. Most often than not, you’d be reading a lot of diet reviews which includes fruits and vegetables in their daily meal plans, because it is common knowledge that it should be included in your meals.

Eating fruits and vegetables will keep you hydrated because it contains about 80% of water, it also contains fiber, which helps keep your digestion system healthy and functioning well. These foods also help in muscle recovery because of the antioxidants that it has. In days with normal weather, our body should have at least 4 ½ cups of fruits and vegetables each day. When summer comes, having at least 6 ½ cups will do you well. Eating this much of fruits and vegetables will sum up to nearly 4 cups of fluid.

If you want to include “hydrating” foods in your daily meal plans (which I doubt you haven’t), here’s a sample meal plan that consists of fruits and vegetables that you can add into your existing plan:

Breakfast

1 cup of berries

Yogurt with Banana

Lunch

Toss in celery, carrots and cucmber slices and measure to 1 ½ cups.

Afternoon Snack

Fruit smoothie. The perfect combination of fruits for your smoothie are 1 ½ cups of melon, mango and pineapple.

Dinner

2 cups of spring salad mix with tomatoes and snap peas

Including fruits and vegetables as part of your weight loss program will certainly give you desirable results. Not only will you be physically fit, but it will make your body healthier too.
