Extreme Diet Plans

January 10th, 2011

You can’t blame people who are keen on losing weight by trying extreme weight loss plans. Every day we are exposed to images of the “ideal” body, an image endorsed by society and the modern media to be the perfect model of what a human body should be.

The pressure to look fit is astounding, so it’s not hard to believe that people have tried so many absurd ways in order to get the figure that they mistakenly believe they want. Here are just a few of these extreme diet plans:

  1. The Baby Food Diet – This diet is basically done by replacing your adult food with jars of baby food. Some people believe that eating baby-sized portions of meals will also only just add baby-sized portions of fat on your body. Dieticians warn against baby food diet plans, as the food requirements of babies are obviously different from an adult, and subsisting on baby food alone can present risks to your health. Most baby food served in jars only has 100 calories per serving, while an adult needs a minimum of 300 per meal.baby food diet
  2. The Twinkie Diet – Mark Haub, a Kansas City University professor, tried to find out what would happen to him if he only ate Twinkies and other junk food for two months. Twinkies are a sugary-sweet snack cake, and formed the primary part of Mark’s daily meals. What happened was astounding. From weighing in at 210 pounds on Aug. 25, he dropped to a lighter 174. This seems miraculous, as eating junk food, is already proven to add to a person’s weight and bad cholesterol. However, going on Twinkie diet plans isn’t such a good idea. Although you lose a lot of weight, you still won’t be getting the kind of nutrition you need from Twinkies that you would get from regular food. .
  3. The Tapeworm Diet – Yes, you read it right, the Tapeworm Diet. This diet requires a person to ingest a tapeworm, or rather, a tapeworm egg, let it grow inside your body and hopefully help you lose weight. Proponents of this diet say that a tapeworm will consume a portion of the food a dieter eats, helping one in losing weight. However, all nutritional experts and doctors agree that ingesting a foreign parasite is no way to diet and will only end up doing more harm than good.

Before you get involved in weight loss plans, you should make sure that it makes sense and that it’s healthy. The best way to lose weight is eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and using diet pills when necessary.
