The Working Xenical

January 13th, 2010

Xenical, also known as Orlistat, is a weight loss or diet drug. It is one of the many diet products that has come out over the years. Of course, the first question you will ask is what makes this product different from all the rest out in the market today. The answer is quite simple actually. Xenical works in a different way. To understand this difference more, let us first discuss the digestive process.

Every time you eat fat or calories they are broken down by the body to their simplest forms such as sugar or glucose. All the excess however, (the ones that weren’t used by your body for fuel) are stored as fat. In essence, all that flab around your waist and arms are stored fuel. The accumulation of stored fuel contributes to your weight gain. Eating too much and not being active enough to burn all your calorie intake results in overweight and obesity.

Hence diet products. Most other diet pills or weight loss drugs attempts to block receptors in the brain that tell you that you’re hungry. This suppresses the appetite of the user. Xenical also suppresses appetite but in a different way. Instead of going to the brain, the design of Xenical targets the digestive system itself. It does this by attaching itself to the enzymes known as lipases which are responsible for breaking down your meals. So what happens, instead of being broken down and stored, the user’s body simply rejects the excess. Overall, the drug Xenical is able to block around a third of the fat from being absorbed into your body.
