Dietrine as a Weight Loss Supplement

May 31st, 2010

The weight loss supplement industry is at an all-time high, and Dietrine Carb Blocker is one of the most prominent brands on the market. Its unconventional approach separates it from the many diet pills on the market today. With its offer of natural weight loss, it is geared for success among the many diet pills today.

The digestion process

Our digestive system works in a very organized way. When a person eats high-carbohydrate foods like pizza, spaghetti, or white rice, Alpha Amylase, an enzyme responsible for turning carbohydrates into sugars, goes to work. This natural process is good for our body, because a substantial amount of these sugars are used as a source of energy for various activities. Without those sugars, the body simply would not have enough energy to last the day. However, the sugars that are not used up are stored as fat, thus increasing body weight.

The big difference

dietrineThe way Dietrine works is markedly different from most weight control pills, which reduce appetite or increase digestion and metabolism. Instead of those changes, this carb blocker instead briefly prevents Alpha Amylase from working. For a short time, the carbohydrates ingested by the body are not converted into sugars. This enables the body to spend its stored sugars and fats. Working this way, this weight loss supplement can assure users that it delivers on its guarantee of reducing weight.

The all-natural edge

The ingredients that Dietrine includes play a big role in its effectiveness. This all-natural product includes a white kidney bean extract called Phase 2, which is its active ingredient in blocking carbohydrates. Its other ingredients, chromium and vanadium, can also be found in nature. This natural weight loss approach simply gives this product the edge over many other weight management tablets available.

The effects

Many consumer Dietrine reviews are positive. They report no side effects, and they praise the drug for its effectiveness. However, these reviews are due to the fact that those got the best results not only exercised regularly, but ate the right kinds of food as well, including those with carbohydrates. Because of the way this pill works, those who significantly lessen carbohydrate intake may feel weak and lethargic. To be effective, it should be taken in recommended doses five minutes before a meal. This ensures that it works the way it was formulated to.

Like any true weight loss supplement, this pill does not offer instant results. Indeed, no amount of medication can offer significant permanent weight reduction immediately. Together with regular exercise and diet, the all-natural approach to this process gives Dietrine the safety edge that it needs to succeed.

Weight Loss Quick Fixes To Avoid

May 28th, 2010

The many scientific discoveries in our world today has given rise to weight loss products that promise the equivalent of the moon. Such promises include an instant drop in weight or a cure for dieting disorders. However, many of these products do not deliver what they promise. When it comes to healthy weight loss, there is no one simple solution. Instead, a combination of dietary supplements, healthy exercise, and proper dieting options is the key to the best obesity management programs on the market. At the same time, it would be helpful to avoid situations which are not only counteractive to losing weight, but possibly quite dangerous.

Fad diets

Most fad diets will not produce the instant weight loss promised. These kinds of dietary plans only serve to help people lose weight without really focusing on the crux of the matter—weight is directly related to health. A diet program that takes care of weight while disregarding health is a dangerous one, and it is quite possible that this type of program will not work as expected.

healthy diet

Drug dependence

Too many pills on the market are specifically formulated to help people shed extra pounds. While these pills often work wonders, it would be unwise to be fully dependent on them without a change in eating habits or lifestyle. Relying on drugs to combat obesity is never a good idea. At best, the weight loss that these drugs offer is not permanent because changes in lifestyle were never put into practice, thus allowing the pounds to return very quickly.

Dependence on exercise and the gym

While exercise is generally good for the body, it would be wrong to be dependent on exercise as well. Without the proper diet, exercise may lead to an excessive loss of energy. Someone on a fad diet certainly will not be able to exercise effectively. Furthermore, without receiving the nutrients necessary for regular body functions, the body may reject exercise, thus making this activity counterproductive to weight loss.

It would be wise to remember that healthy weight loss is the product of a variety of factors. It would be a mistake to focus on one of those factors as the ultimate savior in the battle against obesity and weight. No single diet, drug, or exercise program can replace healthy habits, which can help people lose more pounds than a single program ever will.

Globally, almost 400 million suffer from this condition, and the World Health Organization expects this number to rise above 7 million by 2015. This chilling statistic has prompted the world’s biggest drug manufacturing companies to stem the tide, and it has caused many people to buy Xenadrine and similar products.

Hoodia as an Agent for Weight Loss

May 19th, 2010

Different options are currently available for those who truly want to lose weight. One of these options is the dietary supplement hoodia. Information on this product is relatively sparse, and most of the questions center around its effectiveness and its side effects. Weight loss can certainly be helped along by this product, and there is varying evidence that it does indeed have an effect on appetite.

A little history

The supplement we know as hoodia gordonii had its beginnings in the South African desert, where San Bushmen continually ate the succulent plant and remained slim. The British pharmaceutical company, Phytopharm, studied the plant and concluded that the active ingredient that suppressed appetite was a chemical they called P57.

Because the plant is native to South Africa, it has become scarce. In fact, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has listed it as endangered. This means that the unregulated, unlicensed trade of the plant is illegal, prompting the need to for companies involved in hoodia research to synthesize P57. There has been little success in this endeavor, as Pfizer, the pharmaceutical giant with whom Phytopharm partnered in its development, claimed difficulty in synthesizing the component and released the rights to P57 to its partner.

But does it work?

A micro-study conducted by Dr. Richard M. Goldfarb on seven people concluded that hoodia is effective. The study showed that the median weight loss was about 10 pounds after almost a month of taking 500 milligram capsules containing the extract. This is a small study, but it shows great promise for the supplement, especially if a larger, more extensive study is made.

Because of the scarcity of published, peer-reviewed studies on hoodia side effects are not very well-documented. Generally, however, people who are taking other medication are advised not to take the dietary supplement. Pregnant women and those who suffer from diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, anorexia, and other similar ailments should not take it either.

Caution

There are many products on the market advertised to contain hoodia extract. The reality, however, is that only a few of these products are genuine. Most do not contain pure hoodia, but a concoction of other substances, with only a small portion actually containing it. Because of this fact, discernment is needed when evaluating which products to buy.

Generally regarded as safe, hoodia can be a valuable resource in losing weight. Coupled with regular exercise and proper diet, its value cannot be underestimated, and it may well lead to a weight loss revolution and a change in our eating habits.

Carbohydrates Double Women’s Heart Disease Risk

May 11th, 2010

Women need to watch their diet as recent research reports that high-carbohydrate intake increases the body’s risk for heart disease. The report was done by Italian researchers who studied the relationship between the glycemic index and the glycemic load among 32,578 women and 15,171 men. The subjects were asked to accomplish a dietary questionnaire wherein they computed their average glycemic index of food consumption, dietary glycemic load, and overall carbohydrate intake.

Carbohydrates Double Women's Heart Disease RiskMost subjects received their high-glycemic index carbohydrates from bread, pizza, sugar, honey, jam, and rice. The most popular low-glycemic index carbohydrate sources were pasta, cakes, and fruit. A higher intake of high-glycemic index foods was linked to a greater chance of developing coronary heart disease (CHD) in women. The risk for heart disease was found to be 2.24 times greater for women who consumed the highest glycemic load. Low-glycemic index food intake, on the other hand, was not associated to the development of CHD.

No associations were found between CHD, glycemic index, glycemic load, and total carbohydrate intake in men. Researchers concluded that triglyceride levels pose a higher risk for women compared to men. Scientists added that the “adverse effects of a high-glycemic diet on women are mediated by sex-related differences in lipoprotein and glucose metabolism.” Further research needs to be done to investigate the lack of association between a high-glycemic diet and CHD in men.

Diet Benefits of Tomato

May 11th, 2010

Tomatoes contain the powerful antioxidant lycopene, which is classified under the carotenoids family. Carotenoids are phytochemical molecules that give fruits and vegetables their orange, red, or yellow colors. Lycopene is what gives tomatoes their red shade. Studies show that eating more tomatoes reduces the risk of prostate cancer in men. Countries where residents eat tomatoes often have lower prostate cancer rates as compared to U.S. and Canada.

Most tomato-based products (such as spaghetti sauce and ketchup) provide 85 percent of the body’s required lycopene consumption. The other 15 percent comes from other fruits that also contain lycopene. Dishes that contain cooked tomatoes, such as pizza, spaghetti, and other Italian meals, have enhanced amounts of the red antioxidant. Cooking exposes the cell walls to heat, enabling for more molecule extractions that lead to greater body absorption of lycopene. Other rich sources of the antioxidant are tomato paste, canned tomatoes, tomato soup, and tomato juice.

Lycopene can also be absorbed from eating papaya, guava, pink grapefruit, and watermelon. Cooking tomatoes and other foods in olive oil can also enhance the body’s supply of antioxidants. The body only needs about two tomato-based meals each week to lower the likelihood of prostate cancer.

Yoga Styles for Weight Loss

May 5th, 2010

Yoga is a popular exercise recommended by health buffs and nutritionists for its many health benefits. Practicing yoga daily will increase the body’s flexibility, reduce stress levels, tone the muscles, and enhance mental awareness. Although yoga poses are not cardio exercises, every day practice will build the body more strength and resistance. It also enhances your overall posture.

Weight is effectively reduced by taking 90-minute yoga classes three times a week. The recommended form of fat-burning yoga is the vinyasa or flow yoga. This form of yoga applies a series of sun salutations to reduce the body’s weight and strengthen the muscles. Other recommended weight-loss yoga forms are ashtanga, hot ypga, and power yoga. Asthanga is practiced by veteran yogis and may be difficult at first for first-timers. Ashtanga yoga is suitable for those who prefer exercising at home.

Power yoga is the most popular form as it gives the body an intense cardiovascular exercise. Those who are after losing weight over toning the body should enroll in power yoga classes. Hot yoga, on the other hand, is done in environments that are 37 to 40 degree Celsius in temperature. The heat increases flexibility and helps the body shed off water weight through sweating.
